Established in August 2001 as a spin-out from the INSERM U411 unit, Mutabilis specializes in the discovery and development of new therapies to treat severe bacterial infections.
Mutabilis aims at developing molecules treating these infections by selectively inhibiting bacterial multiplication in the blood. Thanks to their novel mode of action, these anti-virulence molecules should avoid the development of resistance by the bacteria responsible for extra-intestinal infections. By preventing the spreading of bacteria through the blood whilst not altering their growth in the digestive tract, these products should prevent the selection of resistant strains.
Mutabilis simultaneously develops a new antibiotic class that is very active on staphylococci and could be used against resistant strains (MRSA).
